Tapirus mesopotamicus
Taxonomy
Tapirus mesopotamicus was named by Ferrero and Noriega (2007). Its type specimen is CICYTTP-PV-M-1-23, a skull (skull and proximal fragment of the right mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is North Bank of Ensenada Stream, which is in a Pleistocene fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Arroyo Feliciano Formation of Argentina.
