Euperidae was named by Heard (1965). It is extant.

It was reranked as the subfamily Euperinae by Bouchet et al. (2010) and Carter et al. (2011).

It was assigned to Pisidioidea by Nevesskaja (2009); and to Sphaeriidae by Bouchet et al. (2010) and Carter et al. (2011).
