Taxonomy
Manzanella was named by Girty (1909) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon-u P Guad-l]. Its type is Manzanella elliptica.

It was assigned to Solemyoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Manzanellidae by Cox et al. (1969), Vokes (1980) and Bouchet et al. (2010).
