Taxonomy
Mitra dariensis was named by Brown and Pilsbry (1911). Its type specimen is ANSP (no number), a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Mitra (Tiara) dariensis by Woodring (1964); it was recombined as Subcancilla dariensis by Hendy et al. (2008).
