Taxonomy
Mylodon robustus was named by Owen (1842). It is the type species of Eumylodon.
It was recombined as Eumylodon robustus by Ameghino (1904); it was synonymized subjectively with Glossotherium giganteum by Hoffstetter (1954); it was recombined as Glossotherium robustus by McDonald and Naples (2007); it was recombined as Glossotherium robustum by McAfee (2009).
