Nyctosaurus bonneri
Taxonomy
Pteranodon (Nyctosaurus) bonneri was named by Miller (1971). Its type specimen is SMM 11311, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is near Elkader, which is in a Santonian offshore chalk in the Niobrara Formation of Kansas.
It was synonymized subjectively with Nyctosaurus gracilis by Bennett (1994); it was recombined as Nyctosaurus bonneri by Vila Nova et al. (2014).
