Taxonomy
Chione posorjensis was named by Olsson (1931). Its type locality is Basal Heath or Caleto Mero Shales, which is in an Oligocene shoreface sandstone/shale in the Heath Formation of Peru.
It was recombined as Chione (Chionopsis) posorjensis by Woodring (1982).
