Cratis was named by Hedley (1915) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi-l-l R Sepkoski's reference number: 681]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Arcoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Philobryidae by Vokes (1980), Lamprell and Healy (1998) and Spencer et al. (2004).
