Porites convivatoris was named by Foster (1986). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is NMB Loc. 16852 - Río Cano [Gurabo Fm], which is in a Messinian coastal sandstone/limestone in the Gurabo Formation of the Dominican Republic.
