Taxonomy
Chirodota undulata was named by Schlumberger (1888). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is the type species of Theelia.

It was recombined as Chiridotites undulatus by Deflandre-Rigaud (1950), Deflandre-Rigaud (1952) and Deflandre-Rigaud (1962); it was recombined as Theelia undulata by Schlumberger (1890), Summerson and Campbell (1958), Zawidzka (1971), Mostler (1972), Soodan (1991), Gilliland (1992) and Reich and Wiese (2010).
