Priscopedatus irregularis was named by Schlumberger (1890). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is the type species of Calclamnella.
It was recombined as Calclamnella irregularis by Deflandre-Rigaud (1962), Mostler (1972), Mostler and Rahimi-Yazd (1976) and Wernlund (1977).
