Taxonomy
Achistrum nicholsoni was named by Etheridge (1881). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is the type species of Achistrum.

It was recombined as Achistrum (Achistrum) nicholsoni by Hampton (1958); it was recombined as Achistrulum nicholsoni by Deflandre-Rigaud (1962).
