Arca (Lissarca) was named by Smith (1877) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1112]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Lissarca by Vokes (1980), Maxwell (1992), Lamprell and Healy (1998), Sepkoski (2002) and Spencer et al. (2004).

It was assigned to Arca by Smith (1877); to Limopsidae by Vokes (1980) and Lamprell and Healy (1998); to Arcoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Philobryidae by Maxwell (1992) and Spencer et al. (2004).
