Erythrosuchus africanus
Taxonomy
Erythrosuchus africanus was named by Broom (1905). Its type specimen is SAM 905, a partial skeleton (right scapula and coracoid, right humerus, radius, and ulna, right ilium, ischium, and pubis, partial left ilium, several vertebrae, and numerous ribs), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oorlogsfontein, Aliwal North District, which is in an Anisian dry floodplain siliciclastic in the Burgersdorp Formation of South Africa. It is the type species of Erythrosuchus.
