Taxonomy
Palaeosolen was named by Hall (1845) [Genus was named by Hall 1885, in Soot-Ryen (1966)]. Its type is Orthonota siliquoidea.

It was assigned to Orthonotidae by Vokes (1980) and Morris et al. (1991); to Mytiloida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Konduriidae by Sánchez and Benedetto (2007).
