Aspidoceras argobbae was named by Dacque (1905). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Atschabo, which is in a Kimmeridgian shallow subtidal limestone in Ethiopia.

It was recombined as Simaspidoceras argobbae by Dacque (1905).
