Terebratula triplicosa was named by Quenstedt (1852).

It was recombined as Rhynchonella triplicosa by Muir-Wood (1953); it was recombined as Capillirhynchia triplicosa by Seifert (1963); it was recombined as Laevigaterhynchia triplicosa by Radulović and Rabrenović (1993).
