Taxonomy
Voluta pyrum was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant. It is the type species of Turbinella, Xancus.

It was recombined as Xancus pyrum by Woodring (1964); it was recombined as Turbinella pyrum by Landau and Marques da Silva (2010).
