Antiquilima was named by Cox (1943) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn K Apti Sepkoski's reference number: 94,159].

It was assigned to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Limidae by Vokes (1980) and Scholz et al. (2008).
