Taxonomy
Cheirodota primaeva was named by Etheridge (1881). It is considered to be a form taxon.

It was recombined as Protocaudina primaeva by Croneis and McCormack (1932); it was recombined as Chiridotites primaevus by Deflandre-Rigaud (1950) and Deflandre-Rigaud (1952); it was recombined as Paleochiridota primaeva by Deflandre-Rigaud (1962).
