Taxonomy
Byssopteria was named by Hall (1883) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Byssopteria radiata.

It was assigned to Ambonychiidae by Pojeta (1966); and to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002).
