Hyalinea was named by Hofker (1951) [Sepkoski's age data: Q Plei R]. It is extant. It was considered unknown by Holzmann and Pawlowski (2017).

It was assigned to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Planorbulinidae by Holzmann and Pawlowski (2017).

M. Holzmann and J. Pawlowski 2017Hyalinea is characterized by very low trochospiral tests that become planispiral in later stages and thickened sutures. Hyalinea have interiomarginal apertures bordered with lips (Loeblich and Tappan, 1988).
