Archaeophiomusium andinum was named by Sanchez (1983) [Aboral disk surface with five incomplete arms]. Its type specimen is UCV-G 6001-6 and is a cast. Its type locality is Carache, Merida Andes, which is in a Kungurian coastal siltstone in the Palmarito Formation of Venezuela.
