Taxonomy
Ciclopecten was named by Seguenza (1877) [Sepkoski's age data: T Plio; Recent [Hendy]]. It is extant. Its type is Ciclopecten peloritanus.

It was assigned to Camptonectinae by Coan et al. (2000); and to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002).
