Taxonomy
Peripetoceras gigas was named by Prinoth and Posenato (2007). Its type specimen is MNS HP66 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Val d'Anna, Ortisei, which is in a Changhsingian shallow subtidal limestone/limestone in the Bellerophon Formation of Italy.
