Taxonomy
Eucalathis methanophila was named by Kaim et al. (2010). Its type specimen is UMUT MB30198, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Omagari, Abeshinai River, near mouth of Osoushinai River [Omagari Fm], which is in a Campanian deep-water breccia in the Omagari Formation of Japan.
