Taxonomy
Echidna ramsayi was named by Owen (1884). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Megalibgwilia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Echidna oweni by Lydekker (1894); it was synonymized subjectively with Echidna (Proechidna) oweni by Dun (1894); it was considered a nomen vanum by Murray (1978); it was recombined as Megalibgwilia ramsayi by Griffiths et al. (1991).
