Taxonomy
Mourlonia venusta was named by Gordon and Yochelson (1987). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS 17018-PC. Granite Mountain, which is in a Meramecian carbonate limestone in the Chainman Shale Formation of Utah.
