Guizhoupecten was named by Chen (1962) [Sepkoski's age data: P Leon P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 157,524].

It was assigned to Aviculopectininae by Vokes (1980); to Bivalvia by Smith and Xu (1988); to Streblochondriidae by Newell and Boyd (1995); and to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002).
