It was synonymized subjectively with Hyperodapedon by Langer et al. (2000).
It was assigned to Rhynchosaurinae by Buffetaut (1983); to Hyperodapedontinae by Mukherjee and Ray (2015) and Schultz et al. (2016); and to Hyperodapedontinae by Ezcurra et al. (2016).
