Alanqa saharica

Reptilia - Azhdarchidae

Taxonomy
Alanqa saharica was named by Ibrahim et al. (2010). Its type specimen is FSAC-KK 26, a mandible (Almost complete mandibular symphysis), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Aferdou N'Chaft, which is in a Cenomanian fluvial sandstone in Morocco. It is the type species of Alanqa.

Ibrahim et al. 2010Elongate mandibular symphysis (length/maximum depth >10) with remarkably straight dorsal and ventral profile in lateral view and a well developed “V”-shaped midline ridge that bounds the posterior end of the occlusal surface of the mandibular symphysis, bifurcates posteriorly and projects well above the occlusal margin of the symphysis.
