Camena admiranda was named by Rozanov and Missarzhevsky (1966) [Missarzhevsky in Rozanov & Missarzhevsky 1966]. Its type specimen is GIN 3470/78 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Tommotia admiranda by Bengtson (1970) and Missarzhevsky (1970); it was recombined as Camenella admiranda by Bengtson (1986) and Skovsted et al. (2009).
