Valettaster stipes was named by Villier (2010). Its type specimen is MPUP VILL026 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 1, Serre de Bleyton, which is in a Barremian slope marl/limestone in France.

flattened shape and an irregular, slightly digitate outline. The external surface is a flat and rounded surface without ornament. Lateral faces are marked by shallow grooves and processes for articulation with adjoining ossicles (digitations or bulges) commonly with a central pit.
