Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
C. B. Skovsted and L. E. Holmer 2006The tubes exhibit an external ornamentation of marked concentric ribs and faint longitudinal furrows and ridges between the ribs (Fig. 6C–D). The concentric ribs are symmetrical in crosssection (Fig. 6D) and may be straight, but more often slightly undulating (Fig. 6E). The density of concentric ribs varies from 6 to 16/mm and the height of the ribs varies from 10 to 19 μm, but individual specimens exhibit more or less homogeneous spacing and amplitude of the ribs. Weakly defined accessory ribs with lower amplitude may sometimes be present between the major ribs (e.g. lower part of Fig. 6E). The longitudinal furrows and ridges between the major ribs are slightly undulating and are discontinuous over the crest of ribs. Their density is approximately 50–30 ridges/mm. The concentric ribs are sometimes reflected, although subdued, on the otherwise smooth internal surfaces (Fig. 6B).
