Loripes edentuloides was named by Verrill (1901). It is extant.

It was recombined as Lucina edentuloides by Hanna (1926); it was recombined as Anodontia edentuloides by Grant and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Pegophysema (Pegophysema) edentuloides by Moore (1988); it was recombined as Pegophysema edentuloides by Powell (2008).
