Lyriochlamys was named by Sobetski (1977) [Sepkoski's age data: K u K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: ZR77,991]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Chlamys (Lyriochlamys) by Stilwell (1998).

It was assigned to Chlamys by Stilwell (1998); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pectinidae by Vokes (1980) and McRoberts (2011).
