Lima (Limaria) hemphilli was named by Hertlein and Strong (1946). It is extant.

It was recombined as Limaria (Limaria) hemphilli by Moore (1987); it was recombined as Limaria hemphilli by Coan et al. (2000), Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012) and Hendy (2021).
