Taxonomy
Cardium sorrentoensis was named by Hanna (1927).

It was recombined as Trachycardium (Agnocardia) sorrentoense by Vokes (1939); it was recombined as Acanthocardia sorrentoensis by Vokes (1984); it was recombined as Agnocardia sorrentoensis by Schneider (2002); it was recombined as Acanthocardia (Agnocardia) sorrentoense by Moore (2002).
