Solen lorenzana was named by Wagner and Schilling (1923) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Eocene; California.]. Its type specimen is UCCIP 11421, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Solena (Eosolen) lorenzana by Moore (2003).
