Arca aequatorialis was named by d'Orbigny (1846). It is extant.

It was recombined as Anadara (Cunearca) aequatorialis by Keen (1971); it was recombined as Anadara aequatorialis by Cantalamessa et al. (2005) and Hendy (2020).
