J. P. Hunter et al. 2010 | Generally similar to Leptalestes krejcii, L. prokrejcii, and ?L. cooki, as well as to the pediomyid-like metatherian Iqualadelphis lactea Fox, 1987. Significantly larger than Iqualadelphis and L. prokrejcii, overlaps the upper end of the size range of L. krejcii and the lower end of the size range of ?L. cooki. Differs from Iqualadelphis lactea in reduced stylar cusp B on M3, comparable in size to that of ?L. cooki and L. krejcii when present in these latter taxa (see Clemens, 1966). Differs from L. prokrejcii, L. krejcii, and ?L. cooki in more distally positioned ectoflexus; stronger, more mesiolabially positioned parastyle; wider parastylar shelf; narrower protocone; and narrower cingula extending from para- and metaconules to the bases of the parastyle and metacone, respectively. Differs from ?L. cooki in lack of pre- and postprotoconal cingula on M2-3. |
