Taxonomy
Otapiria was named by Marwick (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn J Tith-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1233]. Its type is Pseudomonotis marshalli.

It was assigned to Pteriidae by Marwick (1953); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Monotidae by McRoberts (2011).
