Ophthalmapseudes rhenanus
Taxonomy
Macrura rhenana was named by Malzahn (1958). Its type specimen is Niedersachsisches Landesamt fur Bodenforschung Z10, a carapace (Cephalothorax, 6 thorax, 6 abdominal), and it is a cast. Its type locality is Zechstein Limestone Drillhole 57 Friedrich Heinrich Mine Kamp-Lintfort Germany, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine shale/limestone in the Zechstein Limestone Formation of Germany. It is the type species of Ophthalmapseudes.
It was recombined as Ophthalmapseudes rhenanus by Glaessner (1962) and Schram et al. (1986).
