Taxonomy
Pecten hastatus was named by Sowerby (1842) [DISTRIBUTION: Alaska-California (Recent); western North America (Miocene-Pleistocene).]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Pecten (Chlamys) hastatus by Arnold (1903), Arnold (1906) and Yokoyama (1929); it was recombined as Pecten (Pecten) hastatus by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Chlamys hastatus by Woodring and Bramlette (1950) and Moore (1984); it was recombined as Chlamys (Chlamys) hastata by MacNeil (1967) and Kafanov et al. (2001); it was recombined as Chlamys (Chlamys) hastatus by Sinelnikova (1975); it was recombined as Chlamys hastata by Hertlein and Grant (1972), Coan et al. (2000) and Hendy (2021).
