Venus fordii was named by Yates (1890). It is extant.

It was recombined as Antigona fordi by Woodring et al. (1946); it was recombined as Ventricola fordii by Valentine (1958); it was recombined as Ventricola fordi by Kanakoff and Emerson (1959); it was recombined as Ventricolaria fordii by Vedder and Norris (1963); it was recombined as Globivenus fordii by Coan et al. (2000) and Hendy (2021).
