Taxonomy
Daonella dianana was named by Guo (1985). Its type specimen is IVy 0184, a valve (Right valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Bijie, Jiuzhai, Funing County, which is in an Anisian marine horizon in the Baifeng Formation of China.
