Taxonomy
Pododesmus was named by Philippi (1837) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u R]. It is extant. Its type is Pododesmus decipiens.
It was assigned to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); to Placunanomiinae by Beu et al. (1990) and Robinson and Lee (2011); and to Anomiidae by Clark and Arnold (1923), Nagao (1928), Ward and Blackwelder (1987), Moore (1987), Squires (1993), Wienrich (1999), Todd (2001) and Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
It was assigned to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); to Placunanomiinae by Beu et al.
