Taxonomy
Posidonotis was named by Losacco (1942) [Sepkoski's age data: J Plie-u J Aale Sepkoski's reference number: 749]. It is not extant. Its type is Posidonotis dainelii.

It was assigned to Posidoniidae by Aberhan (1994); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Entoliidae by Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
