Taxonomy
Fenestella rhomboidea was named by Nikiforova (1938).

It was recombined as Rhombofenestella rhomboidea by Termier and Termier (1971) and Termier et al. (1974); it was recombined as Minilya rhomboidea by Morozova (1974), Sakagami (1999), Morozova (2001), Ernst et al. (2008) and Ernst and Gorgij (2013).
