Taxonomy
Pyramus planus was named by Nakazawa and Newell (1968). It is a mold. Its type locality is Kawanishi Primary School, Gujo, Oe-cho, Kyoto Prefecture, which is in a Changhsingian marine shale in the Gujo Formation of Japan.
